Our Story
Hi, we're twin sisters , Stacy and Che.
We founded Sweet Peas in 2017, with the intention of creating handcrafted , locally produced premium pieces with an international influence that we couldn’t find in South Africa.
A vision conceived from the idea of designing functionally refined pieces that are custom made locally with quality and craftsmanship at the forefront. From our first collection of a mere few leather sandal styles in 2017, Sweet Peas has seen a natural evolution into many different leather footwear collections and in to a premium ready to wear linen clothing Collection. With a philosophy that balances ‘less is more’, we are driven to continually refine and rebuild, keeping versatility and longevity at the forefront of decision making.
Sweet Peas spans across tailoring, outerwear, knitwear, footwear and accessories in modern silhouettes and natural fabrications maintaining our fundamental values of responsible business and considered design.
We have recently branched out in the the retail sector with our very own flagship store located at the Lifestyle Center in Ballito , KZN, South Africa. Our factory Head quarters are located in Cornubia Industrial , KZN, South Africa, where we have trained and employed the best artisans , who handcraft each and every piece with love and passion , creating timeless pieces in fine materials that are gentle with the environment and that are made to last. We value and care for the people behind our garments and footwear, and all throughout our supply chain, we create bonds with a focus on mutual progress and empowerment that aims to inspire our work force.
“It isn’t enough just looking for quality in the products we buy, we must also ensure that there is quality in the lives of the people who make them.
- Orsola de Castro”
We believe that fashion should be slow, and as a business, we don’t want to over consume - leading to our “Custom made to order” business model, to ensure we keep our stock levels at a minimum to ensure minimal waste.
We use natural , good quality materials that are made to last.
We Thank you , all our Sweet Pea patrons who continue to show love and support for our brand. We promise to continue learning and keep revisiting the question…. “How can we do better” ?
